Job description

A SMS Copywriter works in a creative partnership with the campaign manager to conceive develop and produce effective sms messages for Rwanda mobile marketing campaigns. While the campaign manager deals mainly with the concept definition, it is the Copywriter’s task to compose fun and persuasive texts (within the constraints of sms messages) that will maximise participation in each campaign. The Copywriter needs to be able to establish a virtual dialogue with the participants and convey the feeling that the campaign is live and that each participant is addressed individually.

Responsibilities and Duties

The tasks of a copywriter can vary depending upon the type of the campaign. The typical work activities of the sms copywriter will include:

• meeting with the campaign managers team to discuss client requirements and background to the campaign

• creating storylines and ideas in the Kinyarwanda and English language

• writing clear, persuasive and original messages, in a very limited space (160 characters) in the Kinyarwanda and English language

• carefully proofreading to check spelling and grammar in the Kinyarwanda and English language

• keeping up to date with popular culture and trends in Rwanda

Job Requirements

• Native Kinyarwanda and excellent English

• Higher level education in copywriting, marketing or/and advertising

• Creative, fun, outgoing character – witty

• In touch with current affairs, society, popular Rwandan culture

• Characterized by productivity, creativity and organization skills

• MS Office

Duration & Salary: Full time employment (8h./5d) for three-four months with a competitive salary and benefits (accommodation included – food and transportation expenses – airfare) starting from September 20th, 2010.
